Writing useful visit notes

What to put in the notes box so the visit still makes sense months later.

Notes are optional, but they are the only part of the record that carries what actually happened. The activity selections say what topic you covered; the notes say what was discussed, what was decided, and what needs following up.

  • What the grower asked about, and what you advised.
  • Anything you promised to send or follow up.
  • Anything the next officer would need to know if the business changed hands.

What you'll see

Your notes appear on the grower's record for anyone who opens it later, and on your own visit list.

Good to know

Notes are visible to administrators and to any officer who is later assigned the grower, so write them as a professional record. Do not write anything into the notes that you would not want a grower to read over your shoulder.
