The GIA Field app
Planning a visit on the app
Schedule a visit ahead from the phone, and change or call it off later.
Where to find it
GIA Field Home + Plan Visit
Before you start
A day to book. The app only accepts a date from tomorrow up to three months ahead, so today and any day already gone are out.
Steps
- 1 On Home, select + Plan Visit. The Visits tab has the same thing: open Upcoming and select Plan a Visit above the calendar.
- 2 The screen opens on Plan a Visit at step one, Select grower. Type into the search box until the business appears, then select it. Each row shows the business name with its GN-#### and state underneath, and only growers assigned to you are listed.
- 3 The business you chose sits in a green bar at the top of step two. If it is the wrong one, select Change beside it to go back to the search.
- 4 Type the day into Visit Date as year, month and day — 2026-08-19 for the nineteenth of August 2026.
- 5 Under Topics, select what you expect to cover. You can leave them all unselected and fill them in when you log the visit.
- 6 Add anything useful under Notes, which asks "What do you plan to cover?".
- 7 Select Schedule Visit.
What you'll see
A Visit Planned! screen confirms it, with the business and the date beneath, and Done takes you back. The visit appears under Upcoming on the Visits tab and as a Scheduled dot on that day in the calendar.
- Schedule Visit stays greyed out until a grower is chosen and the date is a real day inside the tomorrow-to-three-months window.
- Planning a visit does not log one. Nothing counts towards your visit numbers until the day comes and you log it.
- To change the date, the topics or the notes afterwards, open the Visits tab, select Upcoming, open the card and select Edit. The same screen opens with everything filled in, though the business is fixed — to plan for a different grower, cancel this one and plan again.
- To call the visit off, open the same card and select Cancel. The app asks "Cancel this visit?" — select Yes, Cancel to go ahead or Keep It to leave it alone.
Good to know
You can plan a visit with no reception. It is held on the phone and shows under Pending Upload on Home until you are back in range, and the same is true of a later edit or cancellation.
